I remember a time I only bought budget makeup, mostly ELF actually. And I'm not saying ELF is bad, but I've found out there are things worth splurging on, and things you could just as well save. And I thought I'd share my experience with you guys!
Foundation and BB creams
This is a definite splurge. Foundation can really mess up your skin, if you don't buy a proper one. Of course you can be lucky and find a cheap one that works for you. I've heard wonderful things about Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, as an example. But for me, the only thing truly working, are The Body Shop BB cream, and the Rimmel BB cream.
Powder
I have found several both pressed and loose powders that turned out really good. Given, I haven't yet bought a super expensive powder. But why do so, when what I've found works? There is no need to go to Dior, Urban Decay or Gucci for an expensive powder to use. Yeah, the packaging probably looks amazing, but really. Who really looks at your powder when you're touching up your makeup?
Blush
Here's another save. In my experience you don't have to spend a lot of money on blushes. Here I can mention MUA as one of my favorites. I simply adore their cream blushes! <3
Eyeshadows
Alright, this one you definitely want to spend a few bucks on. I always thought I did something wrong when putting on eyeshadows. It never looked as good as the makeup gurus online. And somehow my shadows came across very sheer. Turns out, if you get quality shadows, you don't have problems like that. They blend so well together, and are super opague. My personal favourites here are Urban Decay and Too Faced. And with the popularity of the Naked Palettes and the Two Faced Shadow palletes... Seems I'm not alone in this.
Mascara
Lastly, I wanna mention mascaras. Don't be tempted to go out and buy a super expensive one. Mascaras dry out within a few months, and the cheap one can do just as good a job as an expensive. My favourite brand here is Maybelline. They've got it figured out! If you're having issues with your mascara not holding the curl for long, try out a waterproof mascara. They contain wax which'll help hold your lashes curly for longer.
What products do you splurge on, and what don't you want to spend a lot of money on?
Do you dissagree with any of the statements I've made in this blogpost?
XOXO
