A Makeup Makeover Evening by The Body Shop

Hi Beauties!

Not long ago, my sister got a free card that garanteed her an evening at the body shop, for her and 5 friends. Everyone would get a makeover, and a goodie bag. I was lucky enough for her to pick me to come along. Sadly, I got a bit too stressed when heading out the door, so I forgot my beloved DSLR camera. Such a shame! So the first pictures of the shop, is from my phone.

When we arrived, we all got a glass of Asti, as a welcome drink. It's one of the few wine's I like, actually. It's very sweet and the bubbles makes it less dense to drink. And since my baby girl is bottle-fed I was able to actually get the welcome drink. They then proceeded to tell us a bit about Body Shop's ideals, like how they don't test on animals, and how they strive to make the best products. And then the fun began! We al got a makeover! I started, since my baby girl had just fed, and was being calm and quiet. I told her she could do whatever she wanted, since I have a small degree as a cosmetician. The only thing I asked for was no neutrals. I tend to fall into the safezone of using neutrals on a daily basis. And I really wanted to try something new.

She ended up doing a purple look on me. Since I have Central Heterochromia I basically have every eyecolour, which makes choosing eyeshadows for me faily easy. You can't really go wrong with anything. I really liked the look she did though, and ended up buying the eyeshadow quad she used on me. But I'll get back to that later! I'm one of those people who are so bad at putting on bronzer. It's a combination of me not having the skills, and my skin being very fair. I'm very pale, and that usually makes bronzer look orange on me. And nobody want's to look like an Oompa Loompa, am I right? But the makeup artist promised to use one of their bronzers, and show me how to make it look good. Lastly she used a lipgloss, shiny but nude. Sadly though, that had worn off before I got home. All in all I really liked this look. It wasn't too crazy, so I can still use it every day- But I can also make it darker, and turn it into a night time look.

And now to the products I got!

The big goodie-bag was something every shopper in body Shop got home that day. It was a special gift, because they were launching their new honey-line. The second gifbag was because we had attended this makeup-evening. The spray bottle was a daily deal as well, because we bought for more than 300dkk. And the last four items were something I bought for myself. I spent 800 dkk and ended up getting a ton of products!

I'll start by telling about the free spray bottle. I found it slightly silly to take a picture of the single product by it self, and I'm sure you can see it just fine in the picture above. It's a Vitamin C Energizing Face mist. The scent is very citrus'y and strong. You have to be prepared for that, or you'll get a bit of a surprise the first time you use it. The product is easy to use, and feels great on your skin.

The first gift bag had a full size Monoi Body Balm. It's from their "Spa Wisdom Polynesia" line. It's a skin softening balm, with coconut oil in. Although you can smell the coconut, it's not overpowering, and there's another scent to it I can't quite place. Oriental, is the best word I can come up with, I think. There were also a "Camomile Makeup Remover". I've tried this before, and it's really gentle on the eyes especially. It takes off makeup so easily, so I'm happy to have this tester size, now I've run out of my other one. Lastly There were a small size of their new perfume, "white Musk Smoky Rose". It has a full and rich scent, very good for evening wear I think.

The second gift bag had a tester of their "Aloe Soothing Day Cream". It's for sensitive skin, and is a soothing, calming face cream. For obvious reasons I can't tell you how this feels or smells. But I'll definitely try it out. Aloe has a lot of beneficial properties for your skin. Even if you haven't got sensitive skin. There were also a travel size "Shea Sugar Body Scrub". I've tried this before, and it is by far my favourite of their body scrubs. It leaves your skin silky smooth, and it even hydrates your skin when you use it. Usually scrubs tend to dehydrate your skin, or make it dry. So this is a definite favourite of mine. In the small test jar there is their new Body Butter from the Honey-line. Like the other body butters, this is rich and creamy. The scent is very sweet, and has a definite destinct smell of honey. So if you're into that, you'll definitely like this one. And lastly, another tester of their new perfume. Good thing I really like that scent, huh?

And here's the things I got for myself. The two quads were something I honestly didn't need. Because, let's be honest here, I have way too many eyeshadows. But This was a product I've been looking at for a long time, and seeing it on, made me want it even more. Resistance was futile. And I can't say I regret buying them. Because I am so excited about getting to try them on, and having some pretty colours to play around with. The big round thing, is the bronzer the makeup artist used on me. Since it is literally the first bronzer I've used, that looked good on me, I just had to have it. And look at that pretty packaging. Who can resist? The final product of it all is a BB cream. When it comes out, it's white as paper, but when you rub it into your skin, it makes your complection flawless. Basically... It's magic. Ok, maybe not, but I was definitely impressed with it. I asked for a sample, because I have very sensitive skin. I've broken out from new foundations and BB creams so many times now, I've become slightly scared to try out new things. But The Body Shop have a strict polecy where you can return any of their products if you have a reaction to it. But I didn't want to open a product, and find out I didn't like it, and I'm just glad they offered me up a sample size to try out for a few days before comitting to the full product. (The one on the picture is the full size product)

And here you have it! Everything I got with me home. For my 800dkk (144$ / 90£), that's a lot of products!

I have to say, I had a lovely evening. The makeup artists were so kind and down to earth, lovely to talk to. And being in the shop, spending all the time I wanted to just try products, and smell everything, was really amazing. If you get the chance to have a day like that, you have to try it out! And getting to share this evening with my two sisters, my mom, and my sisters friend, were just lovely.

XOXO
